Welcome to
AASSIST
Africa Amini Secondary School in Sustainable Tourism

We are piloting a brand new educational model for Tanzania by combining vocational training with secondary education.
Our objective is to provide our students with everything they need to attain gainful employment after secondary school. No need for expensive colleges or additional certification: our graduates will be able to begin their careers immediately. Our aim is not only to open the door of possibility for them, but to serve the tourism industry by providing high-quality candidates to employ.
Our curriculum
Our high-achieving students study normal secondary school material, in addition to our custom-created curriculum for vocational training in sustainable tourism.
We blended VETA course content for housekeeping, food & beverage services, culinary arts, front office, and computer studies with our own topics: health and wellness, permaculture, soft skills, German language, and sustainability.
Internships
Hands-on experience is a curriculum requirement, and each student must complete an average of 5 weeks’ internship per year in order to graduate. These take place every June and December, and we are always seeking new partners to host our students in their camps, lodges and hotels.
VETA
We are immensely proud to be VETA-registered. This approval from Tanzania’s National Council for Technical and Vocational Education (NACTVET) qualifies us to educate, train and certify students according to the national standard. We are the only secondary school in the country to achieve this honour.

successful internships
Africa Amini Alama’s educational projects start from infancy. As our children flourished through primary school, we knew we needed to provide a secondary education that would give them the best shot at a successful future. At the same time, our sustainable tourism projects taught us that the market needed quality candidates that could help steer the industry into a new era of exceptional customer experiences, rooted in responsible stewardship of our planet.
All of AAA’s projects empower communities to improve their own circumstances. AASSIST was created for students whose parents cannot afford secondary education, let alone college or university. With a fully sponsored education that enables each child to step into gainful employment straight out of secondary school, we change not just a life, but a whole community. Each graduate steps out of a cycle of poverty and into a future of possibility, and in this way, a generation of change is ushered in.

Interested in sponsorship?
Support Africa Amini Secondary School in Sustainable Tourism

Student sponsorship
Our students come from underprivileged backgrounds, and their education is made possible by sponsorship. Should you wish to become a sponsor, the cost is USD 85 per month and USD 1,020 per year.
Support our school
If you’d like to assist us by providing some equipment that helps our students with their studies, we would be delighted. USD 55 provides a school desk and chair for a classroom, and USD 7 provides a schoolbook.
Sponsor intern travel costs
Twice a year, our students head out to camps, lodges and hotels all over the country. Their hosts are generously providing their food and board, but help with their transport costs is always greatly appreciated, and allows us to focus our funds on their education.
